The Swedish language is not that hard to read for most of the words, it looks a lot like Dutch. What helps is when you know how to pronounce the special Swedish characters.
- ä is pronounced as e
- å is pronounced as ó (oo)
- ö is pronounced as eu
And some more less important for reading:
- y is pronounced as uu
- v is pronounced as w
- g is pronounced as the g in ‘good’
- the e and the end of words is pronounced as an ‘e’ instead of a ‘u’ in most Dutch cases
Try it:
- föreningar
- borgmästare
- karriär
- invånare
- contrasterna
- trådlösa

Then I only stumble upon those little words. Commonly used but pretty unknown to me. And I need to learn to speak it :)

‘t Is nog even draaien om er een nestje te maken maar het ziet er wel indrukwekkend uit daar. Zweeds klinkt inderdaad al heel snel vertrouwd; ik heb lang geleden eens een proefcursus aangevraagd bij het NTI. Was leuk om te doen, ook al herinner ik me er weinig meer van. Ik hoop dus dat je in het Engels of het Nederlands blijft schrijven. Ik weet nog wel dat ik in die tijd samen met mijn zusje urenlang ‘Zweeds’ kon praten. Wij noemden het alleen ‘Zweds’ ;-)

M’n moeder heeft ook gelijk een NTI/LOI cursus Zweeds genomen. Ze vind het erg leuk, en het voelt gelijk heel vertrouwd. Wel lastig, mijn lessen Zweeds beginnen pas in februari. Maar ik zal niet in alleen Zweeds gaan bloggen, hoewel ik wel wil proberen stukjes in beide talen te doen.. We zien wel goed de lessen gaan tegen die tijd.
